Time to Drop my Weekly Log
Published on July 29, 2005 By ScottTykoski In GalCiv Journals
Not much time to chat, but jsut wanted to update everyone on what's up on my side of the GC2 universe.

We've been handed a short but intense crunch period as we get a preview build ready for our freinds in the press. This will most likely be the final write up done of the game before reviews start popping up, so we have to get some key components in to kick-up the 'wow' factor.

On my plate we have the Human Ships.

Hopefully you've realized that the current ships being used by the humans are filler and actually alien in design. My task has been to come up with 10 (3 tiny, 3 small, 3 medium, and 1 cargo) human ships, fully textured and looking sweet, for the press to play with.

These are just concept, but you can see the look we're going for. Hopefully between the jewelry and the hulls you should be able to design cool ships to your hearts delight (and yes, you will be getting these in Beta 3)

This week also saw the birth of Joe's new Converstion Editor. I beleive that alot of what made GalCiv1 special was the quality and amplitude of custom text for the different races. When a drengin talked down to you, it wasn't "I dislike you, human. We will now go to war." It was very specitif to the race speaking and gave the AI alot of character.

The challenge this time around will be to keep that character, but now write text for ALL the possible races that you can play as.

Needless to say, this is a daunting task, but will be well worth it when the game ships!

Anyhoo, that's all from me. Hopefully the other logs are more exciting.

'Till next week, then!

You know: that bottom one looks like a cross between a bedbug and an integrated circuit!

The event graphics and art in general was one of the things that impressed me in GC; looks like you're onto a good thing here too.

I must say Scott; your artistic talent is extraordinary. I can't draw organic objects worth crap except for mechanical objects, similar to ships like these. I'm impressed. Your shadowing is fantastic and you really make these articles exciting. I can't wait until you post again. Excellent work!

I feel sorry for the poor bugger being ejected out of ship #3. What was his crime?
